Journal helps cancer sufferers and raises vital cash for charity

Journal helps cancer sufferers and raises vital cash for charity

A JOURNAL written to help him cope with his father?s death, is aiding others in more ways than one.

Andy Saunders? published book ?My father?s death? has already raised ?1,500 for the Poole Hospital cancer unit, and reading it has helped people in similar circumstances.

?It was written to help people who experience death and who aren?t grieving well,? said Andy, 49, from Parkstone, Poole. ?It?s helping people and also every penny is going to the NHS.?

His much loved father Ron Saunders, was diagnosed with leukaemia around 2004 and underwent chemotherapy treatment at Poole Hospital.

?He was never very spiritual,? said Andy. ?When he became ill he found some spirituality. I got him some spiritual healing. He went and came out and said, ?That was amazing?.?

Sadly he died in 2008 at the age of 78 leaving Andy feeling hollow and desolate. ?During the void that followed I received signs to show me he was ok and possibly still present in and around my everyday life and with these events the depth of my spirituality accelerated,? he said.

His book has been highly recommended by a review in the Psychic World newspaper which said it was a must for every bookshelf.

Andy, a mechanic whose whacky creations, including the world?s lowest car, Flat Out which stood just 21 inches high, have featured in the pages of the Daily Echo, has raised money for the hospital in the past and is full of praise for the Durlston ward and its staff.

The money will be used to provide a more comfortable stay for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Andy said of his book: ?I haven?t done it for financial reasons. I am going to give every single penny to the hospital. If I could carry on giving to them for ever, I would.?
