City and county officials said yes to the $490 million deal, so Chris Hansen et al. have submitted a preliminary design for the proposed NBA arena to be located in Seattle?s SODO neighborhood.
You can see the basics in the photo gallery above.
In addition to actually building the arena, Hansen has to find an NBA team to fill it.
In a recent KPLU story, we interviewed Kurt Badenhausen, who covers the business of sports for Forbes, about his analysis of the NBA field. Top among the teams that could come to Seattle is the Sacramento Kings.
"They basically have one foot out the door," Badenhausen said. "It?s just a matter of where they?re going to go."
Also on the list was the Milwaukee Bucks ? the NBA?s least-valuable team, according to Forbes.
The arena plan calls for a $490 million arena built in the area where Safeco Field and CenturyLink Field are located, with $200 million coming in public financing. The arena plan is still subject to environmental reviews.
