China train crash due to design flaw of signal equipment: Xinhua (Reuters)

BEIJING (Reuters) ? The deadly train crash in eastern China earlier this month was caused by a "severe flaw" in the design of signaling equipment, the official Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday, citing the Shanghai Railway Bureau.

A high-speed train rammed into another stalled train, the report said, because the signal should have turned red after a lighting strike, but it was mistakenly still green.
