The satellite, built for the Nigerian space agency (NASRDA), can acquire images that resolve details on the ground that are just 2.5m across.

Called NigeriaSat-2, the platform will be used by the African nation to map its lands and plan urban development.

It will also assist the Disaster Monitoring Constellation.

Thonotosassa, FL -- Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives are searching for a?man who stole several items, including?a car, from an antiques shop and killed the family's dog.

According to the Sheriff's Office, between 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21 and 4 p.m. Sept. 22, the man?entered the barn at 14103 N. McIntosh Road and?stole small anitque items along with a?1972 Plymouth Satellite car.

He also tried to steal the resident's truck with two motorcycles in the bed, but detectives?say they think?he was unsuccessful because he couldn't get the truck started.

Detectives say the barn is an antiques shop that is occasionally open to the public. It was open last weekend.

The man is described as a white male, late 20's to early 30's, approximately 5'9", 140 lbs., with a thin build and?short light hair. He was last seen wearing a tank top, jean shorts and blue wader boots. He was driving a dark-colored truck pulling a white enclosed trailer.

Boeing delivers its first 787 jet on Sunday. It's been a long time coming.

The new jet, which was supposed to be flying passengers three years ago, has been delayed by production and design problems. But now it's here, and airlines expect it to offer travelers much more comfort, open up new routes and provide significant fuel savings.

The first one goes to Japan's All Nippon Airways, which has been printing the 787 logo and "We Fly 1st" on its business cards for years.

Airlines love the jet, which Boeing calls the Dreamliner. They've ordered more than 800, well above levels for previous new jets.

"A lot of carriers are betting that this is going to be a winner," says George Hamlin, president of Hamlin Transportation Consulting in Fairfax, Va.

Instead of the usual aluminum skin, most of the 787 is covered in carbon fiber, basically a high-tech plastic that is strong but lightweight. Military planes and portions of other jetliners have used that material for years, but this is the first time so much has been used on an airliner.

The new material brings improvements that passengers should notice.

Its strength allows windows to be bigger and higher, so passengers don't have to hunch over to see the horizon. Electronic dimming replaces pull-down shades. That should mean you'll no longer be blinded when the guy next to you falls asleep with the shade up.

Finally, the cabin is pressurized to the equivalent of 6,000 feet, instead of the usual 8,000 feet. That means air pressure will be closer to what passengers are used to on the ground. And without corrosion-prone aluminum skin, the humidity can be kept higher. Those two changes should reduce dry noses and throats.

All Nippon plans to begin flying the 787 from Tokyo to Okayama-Hiroshima on Nov. 11. The first international route will be Tokyo to Frankfurt starting in January.

The first U.S. customer is United Continental Holdings Inc., which will get its first 787s next year and plans to fly them between Houston and Auckland, New Zealand, and Houston and Lagos, Nigeria.

Those are good examples of "thin routes" that airlines say the 787 will be good for ? routes for which there is regular demand that won't fill a larger plane. The 787's size, fuel efficiency and long range should allow airlines to turn a profit on those routes.

It's also not clear when the 787 will make money. Boeing already took a $2.5 billion charge in 2009 on the program, and it owes additional money to customers for the late deliveries. Boeing executives have said they will announce when the jet will be profitable after the first one is delivered.

The 787 list price runs between $185 million and $218 million. Discounts on new jets are common, though. Aboulafia says it's not clear how steep the discounts offered by Boeing were to lock in all the orders.

Boeing rival Airbus hopes to soon launch its new A350, also made with a significant amount of carbon composites. A successful 787 will put pressure on Airbus to meet its fuel-efficiency goals, and to deliver the plane on time.

Aquarium fishes are more aggressive in reduced environments, new study finds

ScienceDaily (Sep. 21, 2011) ? An angry glare from the family goldfish might not be the result of a missed meal, but a too-humble abode. Fish in a cramped, barren space turn mean, a study from Case Western Reserve University has found. Ornamental fishes across the U.S. might be at risk, all 182.9 million of them.

"The welfare of aquarium fishes may not seem important, but with that many of them in captivity, they become a big deal," said Ronald Oldfield, an instructor of biology at Case Western Reserve. Why, then, has the welfare of pet fishes been overlooked among the scientific community?

Oldfield is the first to scientifically study how the environment of home aquariums affects the aggressive behavior of ornamental fishes. The results are published in the online Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science, volume 14, issue 4.

Oldfield compared the behavior of Midas cichlids (Amphilophus citrinellus) in a variety of environments: within their native range in a crater lake in Nicaragua, in a large artificial stream in a zoo, and in small tanks of the sizes typically used to by pet owners.

The study focused on juvenile fish to remove aggressive behavior related to mating. Also, resources such as food and shelter were removed prior to observation to eliminate direct competition.

Along with environment size, Oldfield tested the complexity of an environment and the effects of number of fish within tanks.

The addition of obstacles and hiding places using rocks, plants, or other similar objects can increase the complexity of the aquarium environment.

He found that an increase in tank size and complexity can reduce harmful aggressive behaviors, and make for healthier fish at home.

Oldfield quantified aggressive behavior as a series of displays and attacks separated by at least a second. Displays are body signals such as flaring fins. An attack could be a nip, chase, or charge at another fish.

In aquariums, these behaviors can lead to injury and in extreme cases to death.

Aggressive behavior was not correlated with small-scale changes in either group size or habitat size alone. However, a significant difference was observed in environments sufficiently large and complex: fish spent less time exhibiting aggressive behavior.

"This more natural environment elicits more natural behaviors, which are more interesting to observers," Oldfield said.

And, for the fish themselves, their lives can be vastly improved with these simple changes to their environments.

"If we are going to try to create a society as just as possible, we need to do everything we can to minimize negative effects," Oldfield said.

But why should anyone beyond fish enthusiasts care about fish behavior?

Minimizing negative effects extends beyond the treatment of ornamental fishes. Interactions between humans and other species could apply.

Humans have intimate relationships with a variety of fishes. They provide food and sport for many people. Some are used for decoration, and others are well-loved pets or may become addicting hobbies.

Additionally, conditions for animals in the rapidly growing field of aquaculture and on factory farms are issues of contention.

Oldfield is not trying to support any extreme agendas. "I'm not trying to ban human use of animals- I just think that if we are going to interact with them then we should be as informed as possible."

Relatively simple fish behavior can also serve as a basic model for more complex behaviors.

In the future, Oldfield said, "This study might help us to better understand how human behavior changes when people are placed in different social environments." Violence in prisons might be linked in part to the smaller space and reduced stimuli.

Until then, the 182.9 million ornamental fishes in the United States may benefit from this study. The family goldfish can swim in peace, enjoying the remodeled space.

SBA Disaster Assistance Available to Missouri Private Nonprofit Organizations

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ ? Low-interest disaster loans are now available to certain private, nonprofit organizations (PNPs) in Missouri following President Obama?s federal disaster declaration for Public Assistance (PA) as a result of the flooding that occurred June 1 through August 1, 2011, announced Karen G. Mills, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.  Only PNPs that provide essential government services are eligible for assistance.

The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in the counties of Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Carroll, Cooper, Holt, Howard, Lafayette, Platte, Ray and Saline.  All interested PNPs should begin the process by registering with FEMA.  At the time of registration, FEMA will initially determine if the PNP qualifies to immediately apply for a grant from FEMA?s PA program. 

All other eligible PNPs will be referred to the SBA for a low-interest disaster loan to cover property damages.  If SBA cannot approve a low-interest disaster loan or meet all of the PNP?s needs, SBA may refer the PNP back to FEMA. 

SBA may lend PNPs up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.  SBA can also lend additional funds to help with the cost of making improvements that protect, prevent or minimize the same type of disaster damage from occurring in the future.

For certain private, nonprofit organizations of any size, SBA also offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster.  EIDLs may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that cannot be paid because of the disaster?s impact.  EIDL assistance is available regardless of whether the PNP suffered any property damage.  Interest rates are as low as 3 percent with terms up to 30 years.

Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA?s secure Web site at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.  Disaster loan information and applications are also available by calling (800) 659-2955, emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov, or on the SBA Web site at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.  Individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing may call (800) 877-8339.

The filing deadline to return applications for property damage is November 8, 2011.  The deadline to return economic injury applications is June 6, 2012.

Now, if you are completely new to weight training and would feel more comfortable with hiring a trainer to guide you through the break in period of your bodybuilding journey, then you will be faced with the task of choosing the right trainer. It is crucial to make the right choice in this situation as the wrong person will end up giving you the wrong advice; advice that at best yields no results, which in turn gets you discouraged, and at worst gets you injured.

If The Trainer Is Certified, Does That Means He/She Is Good?

The fact that a trainer holds a certification is not a good indicator on whether the trainer is a good trainer or not. The reason for that is because most certifications are very easy to get and besides that, most use outdated information. If you don?t believe me then look around and you will find that many certifications can be achieved during a weekend seminar.

What If The Trainer Has A College Degree And Looks Great?

If the trainer has some sort of college degree that is somehow associated with the fitness realm, that only means that such trainer has some brains to him/her. Such a degree alone does not qualify the trainer as a good one either. Also, the fact that the trainer has the body that resembles the one that you have as a goal does not necessarily mean that the trainer knows what he/she is doing. Some people just have good genetics and whether they know what they are doing or not they end up looking good.

So How Do You Determine Who Is A Good Trainer?

In my opinion, below are the qualifications of those people that are good trainers:

1. The trainer really cares on whether the client achieves good results or not and thus gets to know the client?s personality, goals and limitations. From there, he/she should be able to create a program that would fit best the client?s needs. In order to do this, the trainer needs to create a guided discovery period of about six weeks where he/she finds out what exercises/foods the client enjoys the most, as well as slowly finding out what the goals of the client are. As we already know, when a person begins weight training, he/she may not necessarily know at that stage what their goals are. From the information gathered during this discovery period, the trainer then creates a personalized program that the client can stick with. As you can see, programs should not be generic ?one size fits all? formulas. The trainer should also teach the client how to vary the program in order to avoid staleness. By the end of a 12 week period, a good trainer would have taught his client all that he/she needs to know in order to do bodybuilding on their own.
2. The good trainer will always ask for your doctor?s clearance to start an exercise programand the trainer will not provide any services until such clearance is given. This is a great practice as it not only legally protects the trainer, but also it also protects the health of the client as this is the only way that the trainer can get good information as to the client?s health and possible limitations. For example, if a client is an insulin-dependent diabetic but neglects to inform the trainer about it, this could have serious implications later on. That is why it is better to get the information from the client?s doctor.
3. Throughout the workout, the good trainer will pay more attention to the form of the client and proper breathing during the exercise instead of just being a glorified certified counter. I mean, anybody can count from 1 to 10, right?! Needless to say, the trainer?s only focus should be on the client and their form.
4. The trainer always needs to be on time. It is completely unacceptable and disrespectful to the client if the trainer always shows up late.
5. The trainer should have the type of personality that motivates the client and makes the client feel comfortable. Some trainers have an intimidating and bossy personality that makes it more like torture to train with them.
6. The trainer constantly keeps up to date with the latest information. In addition, the trainer should be able to answer nutrition questions and supplementation questions.
7. Last but not least, the trainer practices what he/she preaches and leads by example. So a good trainer is definately someone who is in shape.

Conclusion

So remember, as usual, be analytical and don?t reach conclusions based on looks or the letters at the end of a person?s name alone. Such factors alone do not qualify the trainer as a good or bad one. Look beyond that and based on the additional data determine if the trainer that you are about to choose is the right one for you. Remember, it is your health and your wallet the ones that will suffer if you make the wrong type of decision.

LONDON (Reuters) ? British police said on Tuesday they were dropping their bid to force a newspaper that led the coverage of a phone-hacking scandal engulfing Rupert Murdoch's News Corp empire to reveal its sources.

Leading journalists and lawyers had accused the London police force of attacking press freedom by seeking a court order to force Guardian reporters to disclose their confidential sources.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement that, after taking legal advice, it had decided not to pursue, "at this time," its application for the order which was due to be heard in court on Friday.

"Despite recent media reports there was no intention to target journalists or disregard journalists' obligations to protect their sources," the statement said.

The police have been investigating an alleged leak of information about the case by a police officer. They said the decision not to seek the court order did not mean they had ended the investigation.

The police denied they had sought the order under the Official Secrets Act, usually used in spying cases, as had been reported.

"I'm massively relieved," the Guardian's investigative reporter Amelia Hill, who had been questioned by police about alleged leaks of information about the inquiry, told Reuters.

"It's shown that they behaved completely inappropriately with unacceptable force and thoughtlessness," she said.

British newspaper editors, in crisis after revelations of illegal phone-hacking and other ethical lapses, recognized on Tuesday that Fleet Street had to mend its ways but appealed to the government not to crush Britain's cherished free speech with draconian laws.
