Force India believe they can still catch Sauber ? Formula 1 news

Force India driver Paul di Resta has said that they can still catch-up their main rival, Sauber in the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season.

The Silverstone based team has performed tremendously well in the season until now and has been considered as one of the most competitive mid-field contender in this year?s championship fight.

Even though, the Swiss team has increased its lead over Force India after their driver, Kamui Kobayashi secured an impressive third podium finish in the Japanese Grand Prix held at Suzuka. However, Di Resta has said that they are confidently looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races and asserted that they can still reduce the gap to the Hinwil based team.

Furthermore, he said that they must make the substantial improvements in their car?s pace so as to come up stronger in the remaining races of the current season in order to challenge the team ahead of them. ?

?Mathematically it is realistic to take the fight to Sauber, but to get ahead of them we will need to be in the points at all the remaining races,? di Resta said. ?Sauber were on the podium again in Japan, which makes our task even more difficult, but we are hopeful that the tracks coming up will be more suited to us - certainly compared to Suzuka. To beat them we will need to be on top of all the issues we had in Japan.?

Furthermore, the team principal of Force India, Vijay Mallya said that they have got the potential to challenge Sauber in the season ahead and they are trying their best to make the essential updates in their car to perform well in the upcoming races.

In addition, he said that they are hoping to secure competitive results in the races which are going to be held in Korea, Abu Dhabi and India.

Even though, he said that they have already proved their potential in the season so far but he insisted that they are not feeling contended with their current 7th position and are targeting to achieve 6th place finish in this year?s constructors? championship.

?I think we are having a strong end to the season already,? Mallya said.
